Il gruppo Elsitec ha ideato un nuovo prodotto in metallo, Anox, che è una valida alternativa ai tradizionali acciai inossidabili.
L’ufficio ricerca e sviluppo evidenzia che i metalli Anox presentano elevate caratteristiche di resistenza all’ossidazione e agli agenti corrosivi, assicurando anche un costo inferiore rispetto all’inox. Grazie ai buoni risultati raggiunti, questa soluzione tecnica è sempre più utilizzata.
Il termine Anox – afferma l’Ing. Marco Canova, CEO di Elsitec – sta ad indicare la natura di particolare resistenza all’ossidazione dei metalli interessati e quindi la loro capacità di opporsi agli attacchi corrosivi da parte di agenti ossidanti quali aria, acqua dolce, acqua marina, umidità e soluzioni varie che possono venire a contatto con i prodotti Anox.
Gli elementi base costituenti tali prodotti sono leghe metalliche (principalmente leghe di ferro-carbonio, quindi acciai ma anche ghise) e leghe leggere (a base di alluminio).
Questi materiali vengono utilizzati nelle loro esecuzioni più appropriate alla finalità del lavoro che devono svolgere, ovvero acciai speciali nel primo caso e leghe addizionate di elementi aggiuntivi nel caso dell’alluminio.
I semilavorati vengono poi sottoposti a trattamenti, principalmente processi galvanici, che li rivestono di una pellicola in grado di proteggere il metallo sottostante dalla corrosione. Anox è un’alternativa più economica all’inox (ovvero agli acciai inossidabili), ma tecnicamente molto efficace.
Una valida alternativa al tradizionale inox
Elsitec costruisce sia materiali in acciaio Inox che metalli Anox, ma per meglio comprendere l’efficacia di Anox è opportuno chiarire alcuni concetti base sull’acciaio inossidabile. Come è noto, un materiale che sia completamente “Inox” tecnicamente non esiste, anche se nell’uso corrente questo termine viene molto usato: la parola Inox deriva dal francese “inoxydable”. Anche l’espressione “acciai inossidabili” non corrisponde alla vera natura di questi metalli: in realtà essi sono “ossidabilissimi”, ma grazie all’adeguata presenza di elementi in lega (quali cromo, nichel, ecc.) possiedono la capacità di “autopassivarsi”. Accade infatti che dal cuore del metallo si sviluppano molecole di cromo, nichel, ecc. che emigrano verso la periferia ricoprendo le superfici esterne di uno strato di ossidi invisibile, che blocca gli attacchi corrosivi, proteggendo l’acciaio sottostante.

Elsitec group has designed a new metal product, Anox, which is an efficient alternative to traditional stainless steels.
Research and development department highlights that Anox metals have high characteristics of resistance to oxidation and corrosive agents, ensuring also a lower cost than stainless steel. Thanks to the good results achieved, this technical solution is increasingly used. Anox – states Eng. Marco Canova, CEO of Elsitec- indicates the nature of particular resistance to the oxidation and so the capacity of the involved metals in opposing to the corrosive attacks of the oxidizing agents such as air, fresh water, seawater, humidity and the different solutions that may come in contact with the Anox products. The constituent basic elements of the Anox products are metal alloys (mainly iron-carbon alloys, therefore steels but also cast irons) and light alloys (aluminium-based). These materials are used in their most suitable applications to the purpose of the work that they have to carry out, therefore special steels on one hand and alloys with additional elements for aluminium on the other hand. The semi-finished products are then subject to treatments, mainly galvanic processes, which cover them with a protective covering that protects the underlying metal from corrosion. Anox is a cheaper alternative to Inox (i.e. stainless steels) but technically very efficient.
An efficient alternative to standard stainless steel
Elsitec produces materials both in stainless steel and in ANOX metals, but to better understand the efficiency of Anox it is appropriate to clarify some basic concepts of “stainless steel”. Inox technically does not exist even if in the general use this term is very used: the word INOX comes from a Gallicism of the term “inoxydable”. Also the definition of stainless steels doesn’t correspond to the their real nature: the truth is that these metals are very “oxidable”, but thanks to the adequate presence of alloy elements (such as chromium, nickel and so on) which have the capacity to “self-passivating”, it happens that from the heart of the metal, different molecules (such as chromium molecules, nickel molecules and so on) develop and emigrate to the periphery, covering the outside with an invisible layer of oxides that stops the corrosive attack from the outside, protecting the underlying steel.
