La plastica nella meccanica: da un’idea di Franco Canova
Itenditori a rotazione in plastica tipo PX nascono per dare una valida alternativa agli equivalenti tenditori in acciaio tipo CE in tutti quei settori in cui l’utilizzo dei materiali ferrosi è sconsigliato a causa della presenza di ambienti corrosivi. L’alternativa ai classici tenditori a rotazione che il mercato ha proposto fino ad oggi è costituita dagli elementi in acciaio inossidabile Inox (anch’essi presenti nella gamma di articoli prodotti da ELSITEC, tipo CEX); che però, per il loro costo molto più elevato, ELSITEC consiglia solo in specifiche applicazioni indispensabili. PX sono un’alternativa ai tenditori in acciaio inox, nascono dall’esigenza di ELSITEC di poter offrire ai propri clienti una soluzione di elevata qualità, meccanicamente intercambiabile ma con un prezzo più economico. Il corpo, con la stessa forma del CE, è in plastica ed ha un inserto in ottone annegato nella sua base con attacco filettato, per consentire il fissaggio del tenditore. La leva è in materiale plastico rinforzata con un’anima in acciaio zincato (C) (su richiesta in acciaio inox) al fine di poter assicurare all’elemento le caratteristiche anticorrosive e di elasticità proprie della plastica ed allo stesso tempo un’ottima stabilità strutturale e quindi la possibilità di esercitare il carico necessario.
Da sottolineare che per questa tipologia di tenditori in plastica sono previsti dei kit per catene e cinghie ovviamente con caratteristiche di anticorrosività efficaci, quali:
• Pattini in polietilene ad elevata densità molecolare;
• Pignoni tendicatena con corone e cuscinetti in acciaio inox;
• Pignoni in plastica (i cuscinetti sono in acciaio, a richiesta possono essere forniti anche in acciaio inox);
Tutta la bulloneria dei kit è fornita in acciaio inox.
Inoltre, nella gamma è presente anche il kit di precarica per i tenditori PX ovviamente in acciaio inox.
• Rulli in poliamide con tappi di copertura con tenuta a labirinto;
• Rulli in acciaio inox con tappi di copertura con tenuta a labirinto.
Entrambi i rulli possono lavorare nell’acqua e hanno una elevata protezione dagli inquinanti esterni estremi quali:
• variazioni di temperatura e condizioni;
• nell’acqua;
• a contatto con liquidi;
• ambienti polverosi;
• molte sostanze corrosive, purché compatibili con la plastica che ELSITEC usa;
Le caratteristiche dei materiali utilizzati, l’alto livello di finitura, la robustezza unita alla leggerezza e la grande versatilità li rendono prodotti facili, affidabili ed economici.

X Plastic rotational tensioners have been created to give an alternative to CE type steel tensioners in all those situations where the use of steel would not be recommended because of corrosive environments.
The alternative to standard rotational tensioner units the market has been proposing so far, is the stainless steel elements (that are available in ELSITEC’s range of products, CEX type) but since their price is extremely high, ELSITEC only suggests their use in fundamental applications.
PX are an alternative to stainless steel tensioner units, they were born from ELSITEC’s need to offer their customers a high-quality solution, that is mechanically interchangeable but at lower price.
The structure, which has the same shape as the CE one, is made out of plastic and has a brass insert attached to the base with a threaded block, to allow the fastening of the tensioner. The lever is made out of reinforced plastic material with a galvanized steel core (C) (stainless steel on request) to make sure the element keeps its anticorrosive and elastic characteristics and at the same time it has good structural stability allowing it to provide the needed load.
It must obviously be highlighted that for this category of plastic tensioners there are some chain and belt kits with anti-corrosive features such as:
• high molecular density polyethylene devices
• idler sprockets with stainless steel bearings and sprockets
• plastic idler sprockets (bearings are made of steel, stainless steel on request);
All kit nuts and bolts are made of stainless steel.
In production range there is also the pre-load system for PX tensioners, naturally in stainless steel.

Both rollers can operate underwater and have a high protection from external and internal pollutants such as:
• Temperature and condition variations;
• Into the water;
• In contact with liquids;
• Dusty environments;
• Many corrosive substances, as long as they are compatible with the plastic ELSITEC uses.
