Come si può garantire la sicurezza e l’efficienza dei giunti rotanti nel tempo?
La nostra manutenzione preventiva riduce al minimo la necessità di interventi. Durante le viste ai clienti, verifichiamo il funzionamento dei componenti, capendo se e dove intervenire. Dopo l’ispezione stiliamo un rapporto che permette ai responsabili di avere sempre una visione aggiornata dello stato dell’impianto.
Questo va a tutto vantaggio delle prestazioni e soprattutto della sicurezza. Un malfunzionamento può avere gravi conseguenze: intervenire prima che questo si verifichi è importante.
Nel caso un giunto presenti anomalie, suggeriamo al cliente di smontarlo e inviarcelo; a quel punto valutiamo se ricondizionarlo o sostituirlo con un giunto nuovo, ma in ogni caso garantiamo che il giunto che restituiremo al cliente sarà perfettamente funzionante.
Con quale frequenza è necessario ispezionare lo stato dei giunti rotanti?
I nostri giunti una volta montati devono poter funzionare senza intoppi per molti anni, con lievi variazioni nella durata a seconda della tipologia. Un controllo annuale è generalmente più che sufficiente per individuare eventuali necessità di intervento: questo servizio viene offerto gratuitamente da Johnson-Fluiten.
Cosa succede dopo che, accertata la necessità di un intervento, il cliente vi invia il giunto da revisionare?
Dopo che il giunto ci viene inviato per la revisione, lo smontiamo e valutiamo quali parti sono danneggiate. Se il giunto è riparabile, sostituiamo le componenti soggette a usura, che spesso il cliente non sostituisce da solo a causa della complessità dell’operazione e del tempo richiesto.
Una volta riparato e rimontato, il giunto viene sottoposto a test rigorosi e rispedito al cliente solo quando siamo certi che funziona perfettamente.
Se il componente non è riparabile, valutiamo insieme la possibilità di sostituire completamente il giunto rotante con uno nuovo, ma allo stesso costo della revisione.
Quali sono le possibili conseguenze di un malfunzionamento dei giunti rotanti non sottoposti a controllo periodico?
Un malfunzionamento dei giunti può avere importanti conseguenze per l’efficienza dell’intero sistema, ma non si tratta solo di una questione di redditività compromessa: un malfunzionamento può rappresentare un problema significativo per la sicurezza, specie se i giunti sono utilizzati a temperature e pressione elevate o in presenza di materiali facilmente infiammabili.
Per prevenire rischi, ci assicuriamo che i clienti abbiano sempre a magazzino articoli consumabili come le tenute o, meglio ancora, i nostri kit di manutenzione, per permettere interventi tempestivi. Se un giunto richiede una revisione completa, possiamo sostituirlo con uno nuovo o revisionato già presente in magazzino, e inviare il giunto smontato a Johnson-Fluiten per la revisione. In alcuni casi, possiamo effettuare la revisione direttamente presso il cliente, a condizione che siano disponibili i ricambi necessari.
Quali vantaggi economici e operativi possono aspettarsi i clienti dal vostro servizio di manutenzione rispetto all’acquisto di nuovi componenti?
Il cliente paga sempre l’importo minore fra il costo della revisione e il costo per la sostituzione con un giunto nuovo di fabbrica. La scelta fra ricondizionamento e la sostituzione compete a noi, ma in ogni caso il cliente ha la garanzia che il giunto gli verrà rispedito al 100% perfettamente funzionante e con un’aspettativa di durata esattamente uguale a quella del giunto rotante nuovo.
Quanto dura in media un giunto rigenerato rispetto a uno nuovo?
Non c’è alcuna differenza: i giunti revisionati e ricondizionati da noi sono letteralmente “come nuovi”, durano altrettanto e hanno la stessa garanzia. La durata dipende dal tipo di utilizzo: le elevate velocità di rotazione tendono a diminuire l’aspettativa di vita utile del giunto, ma questa rimane comunque alta; noi stessi rimaniamo piacevolmente stupiti quando in alcune aziende troviamo nostri giunti, mai revisionati, ancora perfettamente funzionanti dopo anche più di dieci anni.

How can the safety and efficiency of rotary joints be guaranteed over time?
Our preventive maintenance minimises the need for intervention. During customer visits, we check the functioning of the components, understanding if and where to intervene. After the inspection, we draw up a report allowing those responsible to have an up-to-date view of the state of the plant at all times.
This benefits performance and above all safety. A malfunction can have serious consequences: intervening before this occurs is important.
If a coupling shows anomalies, we advise the customer to disassemble it and send it back to us; at that point we assess whether to recondition it or replace it with a new coupling, but in any case we guarantee that the coupling we return to the customer will be fully functional.
How often is it necessary to inspect the condition of rotary joints?
Our couplings once installed must be able to function smoothly for many years, with slight variations in service life depending on the type. An annual inspection is usually more than sufficient to identify any need for intervention: this service is offered free of charge by Johnson-Fluiten.
What happens after you have established the need for an intervention and the customer sends you the joint to be serviced?
After the joint is sent to us for overhaul, we disassemble it and assess which parts are damaged. If the joint is repairable, we replace the worn parts, which the customer often does not replace himself due to the complexity of the operation and the time required.
Once repaired and reassembled, the joint is subjected to rigorous testing and only sent back to the customer when we are certain that it works perfectly.
If the component is not repairable, we assess together the possibility of completely replacing the rotary joint with a new one, but at the same cost as the reconditioning.
What are the possible consequences of a malfunctioning rotary joint which is not checked regularly?
A malfunctioning coupling can have major consequences for the efficiency of the entire system, but it is not just a question of compromised profitability: a malfunction can be a significant safety issue, especially if the couplings are used at high temperatures and pressures or in the presence of easily flammable materials.
To prevent risks, we make sure that customers always stock consumable items such as seals or, even better, our maintenance kits, to allow for timely intervention. If a joint requires a complete reconditioning, we can replace it with a new or reconditioned one already in stock, and send the disassembled joint to Johnson-Fluiten for servicing. In some cases, we can carry out the reconditioning directly at the customer’s premises, provided that the necessary spare parts are available.
What economic and operational advantages can customers expect from your maintenance service compared to buying new components?
The customer always pays the lower amount between the cost of reconditioning and the cost of replacement with a brand new joint. The choice between reconditioning and replacement is up to us, but in any case, the customers are guaranteed that the coupling will be returned to them 100% fully functional and with a life expectancy exactly equal to that of the new rotary joint.
How long does a reconditioned joint last on average compared to a new one?
There is no difference: couplings overhauled and reconditioned by us are literally ‘as good as new’, last just as long and have the same warranty. The service life depends on the type of use: high rotation speeds tend to decrease the life expectancy of the coupling, but this is still high; we ourselves are pleasantly surprised when in some companies we find our couplings, never overhauled, still perfectly functional after even more than ten years.
