Qual è la novità?
Simpl-Cut™ è la rivoluzionaria nuova generazione della tecnologia Roll-Fed. Presenta un innovativo sistema di taglio e incollaggio che stravolge il tradizionale principio di funzionamento della macchina.
Clienti in tutto il mondo usano etichettatrici Roll-Fed colla caldo. Si tratta di una tecnologia molto efficace per applicazioni ad alta velocità di etichette completamente avvolgenti.
Nonostante sia largamente consolidata, la tradizionale Roll-Fed presenta due svantaggi: il primo, gli elevati costi nella manutenzione dei sistemi di taglio e incollaggio e per i molti interventi tecnici necessari. Il secondo, il famigerato fermo macchina necessario per pulire il tamburo e altre superfici.
“Volevamo qualcosa in più per i nostri clienti – spiega Bruno Negri, Senior Vice President di P.E. Labellers. Conosciamo molto bene le macchine Roll-Fed, e proprio grazie all’esperienza maturata in cinquant’anni di attività sappiamo anche quali limiti presentano. Ecco perché abbiamo creato Simpl-Cut, che risolve questi problemi in modo brillante e realmente rivoluzionari”.
La tecnologia brevettata da P.E. offre una qualità superiore nel sistema di etichettatura, ottimizzazione nei processi, riduzione dei costi. Ma come è possibile?
Il motivo è legato non ad uno, ma a ben 5 step evolutivi introdotti con la soluzione Simpl-Cut.
Il primo, il sistema di taglio, che – come dice il nome stesso – è estremamente semplificato. È infatti eliminata la lama fissa di contrasto per il taglio dell’etichetta, solitamente utilizzata nelle macchine Roll-Fed. Nella Simpl-Cut il cambio lama è immediato: essa può essere sostituita in 10 secondi o anche meno, da parte di qualsiasi operatore e senza necessità di regolazioni. L’operazione è talmente elementare che può essere eseguita da qualsiasi operatore.
Il secondo, la colla calda applicata prima del taglio. In tal modo il tamburo risulta sempre pulito e questo incide enormemente sull’ottimizzazione dei processi produttivi dei clienti, perché vengono eliminati gli odiati fermi macchina, spesso causati dalla contaminazione della colla sul tamburo. L’applicazione della colla calda prima del taglio, oltre ad azzerare blocchi o inceppamenti, evita anche il fermo dovuto alla pulizia del tamburo.
Il terzo step evolutivo: è presente un unico tamburo per il taglio e trasferimento dell’etichetta, che significa drastica riduzione (quasi annullamento) della manutenzione. Questo consente inoltre di ottenere cambi formato molto più rapidi.
La quarta innovazione della Simpl-Cut: questa tecnologia consente di avere fino a 5 divisioni sul tamburo, riuscendo così a garantire una flessibilità e velocità mai raggiunte. Solitamente una macchina Roll- Fed presenta un numero di divisioni fisse (da 3 a 4). La nuova Simpl-Cut può invece utilizzare un numero variabile di divisioni (3, 4 o 5) a seconda delle esigenze. Il diametro del contenitore e la velocità nell’etichettatura non rappresentano più dei limiti e ciascun contenitore può essere etichettato alla propria velocità ideale.
La quinta novità, lo svolgimento dell’etichetta “no-stress”. Questo innovativo sistema a bassa tensione mantiene la tenuta delle etichette e consente di lavorare anche con film più sottili e più economici. In sintesi, garantisce l’ottimale gestione dei materiali di etichettatura utilizzati.
“Ma non ci siamo fermati qui – continua Bruno Negri. Ci siamo spinti oltre e abbiamo realizzato anche la versione Simpl-Cut Flex, una macchina etichettatrice due volte rivoluzionaria. Questa soluzione propone uno step ulteriore e combina su un’unica stazione due differenti tecnologie: roll-fed con colla a caldo e linerless pre-adesivizzata. In questo modo veniamo incontro completamente alle esigenze dei lienti, offrendo una flessibilità ineguagliabile, perché si può passare da una tecnologia all’altra con la massima libertà di scelta, in meno di un minuto e utilizzando lo stesso tamburo. La versione Flex offre anche un altro grande plus: la possibilità di applicazioni avvolgenti termoretraibili. Una caratteristica che i mercati del beverage e delle mineral Wters ci richiedono sempre di più oggi”.
Le linerless pre-adesivizzate a bobina sono apprezzate e sempre più richieste, attualmente utilizzate in varie applicazioni: dai soft drinks, alle acque minerali, dai succhi di frutta agli yogurt da bere.
Per questo anche i fornitori di etichette pre-adesivizzate crescono costantemente a livello globale, garantendo quindi un buon approvvigionamento di materiale ai possessori di macchine con tecnologia adesiva.

Ad esempio, Spumador, del gruppo Refresco, ha già 4 Simpl-Cut Flex installate presso differenti stabilimenti, con l’obiettivo di acquistarne di nuove. Volvic, brand del Gruppo Danone, rappresenta un’altra importante referenza”.
Le attività produttive delle aziende che già si sono dotate della Simpl-Cut risultano oggi ampiamente ottimizzate e i costi di manutenzione fortemente ridotti.

Simpl-Cut™ is the revolutionary new generation of Roll-Fed technology. It offers an innovative cutting and bonding system which revolutionizes the traditional operating function of the machine.
Customers all over the world use hot glue Roll-Fed labellers. This is a very effective technology for the high-speed applications of fully wrap around labels.
Despite being widely consolidated, the traditional Roll-Fed has two disadvantages: the first regards the high costs in the maintenance of the cutting and gluing system
s and the many technical interventions required. The second regards the infamous machine downtimes needed to clean the drum and other surfaces.
“We wanted something more for our customers – explains Bruno Negri, Senior Vice President of P.E. Labellers. We know Roll-Fed machines very well, and thanks to the experience gained in fifty years of activity we also know their limits. That’s why we created Simpl-Cut, which solves these problems in a brilliant and truly revolutionary way”.
The technology patented by P.E. offers higher quality in the labelling system, optimizing processes, reducing costs. How is it possible?
The reason is linked not to one, but to 5 evolutionary steps introduced with the Simpl-Cut solution.
The first is the cutting system, which – as the name implies – is extremely simplified. In fact, the fixed contrast blade for cutting the label, usually used in Roll-Fed machines, is eliminated. In Simpl-Cut the blade change is immediate: it can be replaced in 10 seconds or less, without needing any adjustments. The operation is so elementary that it can be performed by any operator.
The second is the hot melt applied before cutting. In this way, the drum is always clean, and this greatly affects the optimization of the production processes of the customers, because the horrid machine downtimes, often c
aused by the contamination of the glue on the drum, are eliminated. The application of hot glue before cutting, in addition to preventing blockages or jams, also avoids the downtimes for the cleaning of the drums.
The third evolutionary step: there is only one drum for cutting and transferring the label, which means a drastic reduction (almost cancellation) of maintenance. This also allows for much faster format changes.
The fourth innovation of Simpl-Cut: this technology allows for up to 5 stations on the drum, allowing to ensure flexibility and speed never reached before. Usually a Roll-Fed machine has a number of fixed divisions (3 to 4). The new Simpl-Cut can instead use a variable number of divisions (3, 4 or 5) depending on the needs. Container diameter and speed in labelling are no longer limits and each container can be labelled at its ideal speed.
The fifth and new elements, is the “stress-free” low tension system. This innovative solution keeps labels in registration and enhances ability to run lower cost label materials such as lower gauge and non-laminated films. So, you can work even with thinner and more economical films. In short, it guarantees the optimal management of the labelling materials used.
“But we didn’t stop here – continues Bruno Negri. We went further and also created the Simpl-Cut Flex version, a doubly revolutionary labelling machine. This solution proposes a further step by combining two different technologies on a single station: the roll-fed with hot glue and the linerless pre-glued. In this way, we fully meet the needs of our customers, and offer unparalleled flexibility, because you can switch from one technology to another with the maximum freedom of choice, in less than a minute and using the same drum. The Flex version also offers another great plus factor: the possibility of wraparound sleeve applications. This is a feature that the beverage and mineral waters markets increasingly require today”.
Increasingly appreciated and requested the pre-glued-linerless machines are currently used in various applications: from soft drinks to mineral waters, up to fruit juices and yogurt drinks.
For this reason, also the suppliers of pre-adhesive labels are constantly growing globally, thus guaranteeing a good supply of material to the owners of machines with adhesive technology.
“When customers see Simpl-Cut at work they are impressed by its effectiveness and user-friendliness – concludes Bruno Negri. Many people want to equip themselves with this innovative technology, so much so that today we already have dozens of machines installed worldwide. Famous natural mineral water brands have been among the first to benefit from it. For example, Spumador, part of the Refresco group, already has four Simpl-Cut Flex installed in different factories and intend to purchase new ones. Volvic, a brand of the Danone group, is another important reference”.
The production activities of the companies that have already equipped themselves with Simpl-Cut are now widely optimized and maintenance costs have greatly reduced.
